I ruined my SPEECH capability in XP

K

Kenny

I was playing around with the speech capabilitiies of XP, and installed some
more voices and programs,
but now whenever I try to select a voice (this happenes to all of the
installed voices) from the control panel I get the following message:

THIS VOICE CANNOT BE PLAYED. PLEASE TRY SELECTING ANOTHER VOICE OR SELECTING
A DIFFERENT AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE.

My outpout device is correct (that is for sure).

What can I do to fix this?

THANKS

found the solution on the speech_tech newsgroup, and is:

Thank you Dave.

Xiaolan Xing of Microsoft provided me with the fix, which was:

1. Open C:\Windows\Inf
2. Right click on sapi5.inf and select install
3. If prompted for files, insert Windows XP CD and browse to CDROM:\i386

Thanks for your great support!
