I require Advise and Help Reizing Partitions on a 40GB Hard Disk having Windows XP and 98

Hi everyone,
I have Pentium 4 1.6 Ghz and 256MB RAM. I have a 40GB hardisk (a
Seagate one I think, cause it was changed once). My current partitions
are drives C and D which are 18.6GB (around 20) each. On my C drive I
have Windows 98 SE installed and on my D drive Windows XP
Professional. I had installed Windows 98 first and my computer guy
made two drives C and D. Then he installed XP. Now I use XP 90% of the
time and I want to keep more space for XP on my D drive, i.e. from
18.6 to at least 30GB, leaving 10GB for Windows 98 on my C drive.
I have a few questions:
1). How much space is required for Windows 98 to work normally?
(basically what are the drive space requirements; namely __GB/MB free.
2). I have PowerQuest PartitionMagic 8.0 installed on my computer. Is
it safe for me to "Resize a partition" from there using the given
wizard? If not can you suggest any other means of getting the job
done?
3). Through which operating system, which I have installed, Windows
XP/98 should I carry out the partition?
4). If there is another better way or the best way can you please let
me know I will be deeply obliged if you can post me a response.
If you can't understand my problem thorougly, please post a
message AND email me. Thank You. Rbnetin.

I really wouldn't bother if you want to keep both operating systems. If you
need more space for XP just use the space on your first partition. Windows
XP can see and use both of them just fine. In other words if you want to
install a program in XP, you can install it to either drive.

I have the same sort of setup, I gave 98 8 gigs and the rest for XP. I used PM to do the resizing
without a problem. I would boot with the PM diskettes and do it from a DOS environment, should go a
little quicker as the OS wont be using the files being adjusted.
