I reclaimed my domain

U

Uncle Joe

Excuse if this doesn't fit FP2003 exactly but I'm so happy
I could ----.

My domain name was hijacked by a registrar in CA who sat on
it. She refused my correspondence to negotiate a settlement.
Since she controlled my domain name under her account and
password, I was trapped. Normally, I wouldn't care so much
about a domain name but this one perfectly fits what I want to
accomplish.

Appealed to a great tech support guy and he gave me her
account and password. Did I have a great time modifying
the control panel entries for my domain! Transferred the
domain to my host's servers, changed all the whois data
to me, and installed a tough, meaningless password on
the domain. How does it feel, bitch? (Grin.) She'll be
scratching her head trying out what hit her today.

Hopefully, in 48 hours or less, I'll have my domain working.

Just learned that my host offers support for up 99 MySQL
databases. They also offer FP2000-03 support. Guess
it's time to buy the PHPand MySQL book. I don't have
access to .asp and asp.net, nor IIs support.

Congrats!

It wouldn't hurt to have the domain name private...hidden. You do this
through the registrar. Dunno if it helps much but at least its not public
knowledge.

Thanks. I have (or had) access to the registrar's control panel.
Didn't see anything
about privatizing the domain name on any of the selections. What does
hiding
the domain name accomplish? It will still show in whois, right? And
users will
still need to access the domain through its home URL. I'm willing to
give it
a shot.
