Thank you for kind reply & HELP,
I use IE8 and Windows Live Mail,
have also installed Thunderbird 3 beta.
Because, as many of former users OExp and
subsequently Windows Mail, I don't like
WLM at all, therefore I'm trying to satisfy myself
with whatever decent left of Microsoft Mail application -
and using Outlook seems to me quite natural
step in a proper direction. BUT there always are
some snags...-;)

I'll try your advice right now and will feed back
with what ever success I'll manage to get.

Thanks once again -

I get the same message, have followed the steps:
start >default programs>set program access and computer defaults>Microsoft
Windows ->Microsoft products are defaulted

When I approach it another way:
start >default programs>set program access and computer
defaults>custom>Choose a default web browser: I select IE/Choose a default
email program: MSFT Outlook >ok

Restart Outlook...no changes....
