I/O device error

I can't access my 2d CD drive wich is a RW. When I try to
access it I get and error indicating the task cannot be
performed due to an I/O device error. THe device manager
indicates the device is working properly. ANy ideas to
coorect this?

which device did you checked on device manager.
did you chech your IDE ATA/ATAPI Controler?
check your mother board maker or pc maker web site,
If they have any update driver for that.
and check your instruction of how to enable your secondary IDE Channel.
also make sure your ide cable are right quality and good.
