I need to share my Laptop screen with a Toshiba Projector

I am trying to hook up my Dell Laptop to a Toshiba Projector for a
presentation. The Projector can't detect the Laptop. I have not been able to
figure out how to share the monitor so that my desktop is projected.

The projector's native resolution is probably 1024x768 (XGA). Set your
computer display to the same. Turn the computer off. With the projector
powered on, turn on the computer. Sometimes the system will see the
projector and send the signal out automatically. If not, once the system has
started, press Fn then F8 at the same time and it should clone your display
on the projector. Hit that key combination again and you'll get only a
signal to the projector with nothing on the laptop. Hit it again and you
will go back to only the laptop. If this doesn't work post back with Dell
computer model and Toshiba projector model..........TD
