i need serious help setting up a home network

hi,

i need help setting up my home network, which is set up as follows. I have
a cable moden hooked up to a wireless router. my desktop is hooked up to the
router via ethernet cable. my laptop connects wirelessly. Both computers
are able to access the internet without any problems. My problem is that i
am unable to make it so that i can share files back and forth between the two
computers. how can make it so that this works? i've set it up before to
work fine, but it always spontaneously stops. Does this have anything to do
with the fact that my laptop connects to my school network, as well?

i'm really confused, and i've tried everything i can think of. i would
really appreciate some help, thanks.

by the way, the laptop is running xp home, the desktop xp pro. both have sp2.

Ideally you want to set up your laptop with two hardware/wireless profiles,
one fixed to your home IP range and one for your college. This way you avoid
any IP address shenannigans which are most likely causing your problems.
