i need help with media player

im on an XP machine, and ive been having trouble with media player, it seems
i have 6.4 and either 9 or 10, and i hate using the newer one for very much(i
like my music files to be on the older one, im use to the 6.4), now here is
the problem, when i double click a file to play it(they are music files)it
asks me what i want to use to play it, every time, and i keep checking that
little box to tell it i want the older one to play all sound files of that
type, can someone help me?

Set it as the default media player.
