Hello!
I have an original copy of windows xp pro and i need to instal it in another
pc or maybe two.
My question is, is it worth it to just buy another copy or buy a license?
Where can i buy a license?
I surch almoust everything around here (U.K) but it seems that no one sells
them.
Cheers

Carlos, can't confirm it would be the same in the UK, but here in the US, it
is usually cheaper to buy the retail package then it is to just buy a
license.

It is probably less expensive to buy new CDs on-line.
Buying a COA and product key can be done, Microsoft sells
them and I have seen such on-line also, but you must get the
COA for the same version (OEM, retail, full or upgrade) the
numbers will not work for the wrong distribution.

check www.pricewatch.com or www.pricegrabber.com
also do a Google for "discount software"

Be sure the dealer is authorized or that you get valid media
or COA. Maybe the only way to tell is by reputation.

I dont support piracy but if u alreay own the copy that u
have u can use the original serial # on your current pc
goto start then control panel and click on system the
window that popsup will have your name, company, windows
version and serial # u need to activate windows when u
install it. or u can goto kazza and download an windows
xp key generator

Hmmm, I thought using a key generator to install one copy of XP on more than
one PC WAS piracy. Silly me!

That's right. How can you steal what you already bought? All it is, is
a violation of one of MS's Shrinkwrap License terms, that MS is too
chicken to try and enforce in a real court. MS rather fool the likes of
you into thinking it's software piracy, than try to prove they are
entiled to know how individual's use the legally purchased software in
the privacy of the home.

So I agree with you! Silly you, for believing the corporate copyright
owners FUD.

You can arrange to buy a license from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/addlic.asp

but the discount is such that buying a new copy at one of the big
on-line order companies is probably a better bet

You can buy an OEM version of XP home on Ebay for about $80.00. Cheaper
than a license.
