i messed up the NONE file association!!

hi ,

I still dont quite remember why i did it but , sometime ago , i opened
the folder options in windows explorer , went to the File Types Tab
and fiddled with the (None) file associations(the associations that
control All files and Folders).

Heres what it looks like now:
http://gidsfiles.googlepages.com/NONEassociations.png

A little over a month ago , I added some winamp option in the NONE
*FOLDER* association, and whenever i opened a folder it opened with
winamp.I then deleted that , but i'm not sure what i did then , but i
could *not edit* the association in the Edit File Type window.

Now , everytime i double click a folder , it spawns a new explorer.exe
process and opens the folder in it.!!!
(Yes , i have the "open each folder in the same window" option
selected in the general tab in the folder options window)

In a desperate attempt to unscrew everything , i added another option
- OPen1 , but i could'nt edit it! and now i cant even remove that!

Could someone please help me out. I been battling with a cluttered
taskbar for more than a month now!!!

That's normal. You can add items there but to remove those items, you have to edit
the registry .

Now , everytime i double click a folder , it spawns a new explorer.exe
process and opens the folder in it.!!!

Try:

http://snipurl.com/Double_Click

Or

Start | Run :
reg.exe add "HKCR\Directory\shell" /ve /d "none" /f

If that doesn't work then try:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/samewindow.htm

Good Luck, Ayush.

Hi Ayush ,

Thanks , works like a treat now!.

I knew there was some reg key somewhere! =p

I set the default value of HKCR\Dicrectory *and Drive to "none"

I also removed the Open1 option i made by deleting it from HKCR
\Folder

Thanks Mike , cool page .(incase i mess up again!)
