File association - Powerpoint Viewer

Jon

I've installed Powerpoint Viewer 2007 on my wife's computer, but when she
clicks on a powerpoint file, e.g., .pps, she gets an error message:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this
action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."
However, when I go Folder Options, all the powerpoint file types are
properly listed as associated with Powerpoint Viewer 2007. I have removed
Powerpoint Viewer and reinstalled it, but the same problem occurs. I have
run a registry repair utility, but it didn't help.

My installations of Powerpoint Viewer on my own computers works fine, so I
don't understand why my it won't work on my wife's Vaio laptop, running XP.

I would greatly appreciate any help in diagnosing and fixing this annoying
problem. Thanks in advance for your help!

Worked like a charm! Thanks so much!

Apparently the reason that my wife's computer had the problem, but mine
didn't, is that she was using Outlook Express, while my computers were using
Outlook. Who knew?

Thanks again!

Jon

That's great! Thanks for reporting back, and to the MVP's that supply
the answers.
