I like to make a password recovery disk, but I forgot my password

Every once in a while I get nervous, and then I always like to make a
recovery disk with my password. I don't know my damn password. I still have
the original XP Home disk and for my Laptop the XP Pro disk. Id there a way
either MS can help me, I would pay them or anybody with this. .......Peter

I'm assuming you are able to boot into your account in Windows and
you're just worrying about the Big What If. If this is the case, then
go to the User Accounts applet in Control Panel and change your
password. Write it down. Or leave it blank. Is this what you're talking
about?

The password can only be changed if it's been set in the first place
AND the OP logs on as an administrator. Otherwise, the OP would have
to know the old password to change it - and they indicated they don't
know that password anymore.

password blank when it asked me for the old password. What does that mean,
does that mean I never put in a password. I can't believe it. I tried this
before, and it never worked. I also noticed a new user. What in the heck is
that. ASP.Net machine, password protected. What is that now........Peter

Its probably blank, just press enter.

Its installed when you install .NET Framework.
