Hi,
Backweb is the Compaq Service Connection, which searches for updates for
your Presario while your computer is on the web. In order to solve the
problem, you need to uninstall the Service Connection. First, do this:
1. Click on Start and select Run then type in MSCONFIG and press Enter.
2. Click on the Startup tab at the top. Look for anything that refers to
"Backweb" or "Service Connection" in the list and uncheck it.
3. Click on Apply, then OK. It will ask you to restart the computer, click
Yes.
When it boots up follow these steps:
1. Click on Start, select Settings and choose Control Panel
2. Double-click on Add/Remove programs. There should be an entry titled
"Service Connection." Highlight this item and click on the Add/Remove
button. If there is no entry for "Service Connection" then the uninstall is
not required.
