Hello newsgroup,

I recently found this page http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/
It lists all the startup items windows xp absolutely needs to start
up.

I can't find these 4 applications on my pc, how do I get them back? Do
I have to extract them from the win xp install. CD-Rom? Where do I
copy them, in which folder?

And finally, how do I get msconfig to start them at each startup, I
deleted the unchecked programs in msconfig through the registry.

Do I absolutely need these
4,(ScanRegistry,TaskMonitor,SystemTray,PowerProfile)
programs to start up with windows, my pc seems to be working just
fine, it only needs a long time to boot up.

Thanks for trying to help.

None of the start up items in msconfig are absolutely needed. However some
are very desirable, such as your anti virus and firewall programs. Don't
bother with applications if you don't know that you need them.

Hi Jacques.

The startup entries that you've listed, applies only for Windows 9x systems, not for Windows XP. Also, XP does not require any application for startup (as mandatory). Everything is your choice, but be sure to have your anti-virus, firewall, ISP related utils if any, etc at startup.
