the problem is that i can't get vista to load.
it has told me that winlog.exe is corrupt and that i need to run start up
repair. the main problem with this is that windows won't start so i can't run
the repair program i have ran the advanced boot options as suggested in the
help and support options. i dont see the repair comp option. i have tried
every other option, nothing is working.

what do i do? and more importantly how do i do it?

"Startup Repair" will be the first option offered on every system. You press
F8 during the 'black screen' portion of a restart, right after the BIOS
screen. Whatever other options the system maker made available is up to
them. You may have been expected to create a backup to restore from. It
varies by maker.

the options available are:-

safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with comand prompt

enable boot logging
enable low resolution video
last known good config advanced
directory service restore mode
debugging mode
disable automatic restart on system failure
disable drive signature enforcement

start windows normally

--- none of these options work
on running safe modes the last thing to load is drivers/crcdisk.sys

when it gets this far it stops and won't go any further...........

so the question still stands what do i do? and how?

You should probably seek local help with understanding how your system can
boot to a startup disk.
