I have a huge mail box on my pop server. how can i prevent donwnl

I don't want windows mail to grab the 8K emails i have on my pop server.
but, it thinks it needs to do so. isn't there an option to only download the
emails within the last 5 days? then thereafter only the new emails since
last time it was checked?

Windows Mail will only download the messages in the Inbox on the server.
Log onto your email server using webmail, and move the messages into a
different folder(s).
