My computer wont stay off. I keep getting up in the morning and its on. The
power settings are correct but its not following them. it wont even follow
the screen saver settings and when i put it into hibernation sometimes it
comes back on 30 seconds later bye itself. Very strange. I checked for a
virus with norton and spyware doctor and no luck. Anybody hear of this
before????

Check in the BIOS setup program to be sure that "Wake on LAN," "Wake
on Modem," or similar isn't on.

Check the system BIOS to see if Wake On LAN or Wake on Ring is enabled; if
so disable it. It may be that, if you have a fax machine or the phone rings
the PC instantly comes awake.

This is very usual. As well as checking your BIOS for "Wake on..." options,
go into Device Manager, and work your way down every device in the computer
and disable the "Allow this device to wake the computer" feature (right
click and select properties, then the Power Management tab if there).

You might want to allow just the keyboard to wake the computer, so in the
morning you just tap the space bar to get it going.

Incidentally, I don't know why you have to do this rigmarole, but it worked
in my case.
