I hate the windows button!

I never use the windows button (I rarely ever go to the menu at all).
Unfortunately, the Lenovo T61 I just got has a smaller ALT button than
I'm used to in order to fit the Windows button in.

Is there any kind of utility for remapping the Windows button to act
like ALT?

Yes. You should have the Keyboard Customizer Utility in your ThinkVantage
folder. If you do not have it installed, you can get it here:

I actually had the utility already! Unfortunately, it seems it only
enables me to re-assign the right Windows key. It's the left-side that
I need to modify.

Also, what the heck is the 'Application key' I see referenced?

I have older Thinkpads (X31 and X40), which were made by IBM, who refused to
add the Windows keys, so I use the Keyboard Customizer Utility to actually
make the right CTRL key *into* a Windows key.

I find the Windows key pretty handy, especially WinKey+E for Explorer,
WinKey+M for minimise and WinKey+L for Lock.

I use lots of other keyboard shortcuts as well, of course.

The Application Key is the Context Menu key, on the right side of the
keyboard. The IBM Thinkpads do not have that key either.
