So, I was board today and decided to finally install a nice new SATA II 250 drive ... it was gathering dust.
Simple job, right ?
Shut down PC, unplug power, fit drive & cables, turn on PC. YES?
Oh boy ... you know, it never ceases to amaze me, turn off the PSU and it fails ... aaaaggghhhh!!!!!!
So there I am looking at the motherboard green LED flashing away ... for those who don't know, that is a nice "feature" on some MBs especially Asus ... well, this little flashing LED means one of two things.
1. the PSU has failed
2. the MB has failed
Tried resetting the BIOS, just in case, no joy.
... and, I'm fresh out of spare PSUs.
Fortunately, my big Little brother is home for lunch, so off we trundle to the local PC shop ... picked up a nice case, PSU and a couple of copies of Windows XP home, need them for a older PCs I want to sell ... good price, £20 the lot.
it's not what you know, it's who you know.
Anyway, pops the new PSU in and the PC boots up no bother ... err, oops ... dam, blast & little fishes ... forgot to re-set-up the BIOS ... bugger.
The wrong date don't arf mess a system up, not to mention a few other settings.
One of these days I'll get a decent PSU for this PC ... my Enermax's are still running fine, shame I can't afford a new one.
Now, must go see if I can get these other two working ... oh, and I got a Sony laptop to "fix" here too ...
