I goofed!! My hard drive crashed after 5 years of use day in and day out. I
had everything backed up onto a different drive, THANK GOD for That.

I re-installed Windows XP Pro, and without paying attention to the set-up I
accidently made my folders private. Dumb me.... Now I can't access my
folders on the second drive. I can access all files on that drive but mine.
Everytime I try to access it, it says access denied on H:/Documents and
Settings/Jamie

That is where all of my important documents on that hard drive, I do my work
at home. I am in desperate need of the info in the folder.

I need help. Please help me with this issue.

Thank you, Jamie

Try taking ownership of the folders/files.

As well, use "Help and Support" to search for:

ownership

... and read what comes up.

Hi Jamie. As long as your account is a computer administrator account you
can change permissions but you may first need to take ownership of the
folders and sub folders. To do so, Open My Computer, click on Tools and then
select Folder Options. Click on the view tab and scroll to the bottom of
advanced settings. Remove the check from Use Simple File Sharing and click
on OK. Then right click the folder in question and select Sharing and
security. Click on the security tab and select Advanced. Click on the owner
tab, select your current account and make sure you check off "replace owner
on subcontainers and objects". Once you have ownership you will be able to
set permissions. Click on the permissions tab, and grant your current
account "full control" making sure to check off the box that will replace
permissions on all child objects.
