I recently was exploring my Outlook 2003 files for a few of my contacts phone
numbers and I couldnt find them for the life of me! This kinda thing has been
happening to me for quite some time but for whatever reason I always just
discounted it. I went to view the actions that were conected to my contact
folder and there were a number of contacts that had been deleated from my
files and I know I didnt due this - Why does this happen? How do i stop my
contacts from what appears to be arbitrarily deletion??

Then, is there a simple way to restore them without having to type them all
back in?

Please HELP! ---> =OP

I think you'll get a better answer from the Outlook experts in an
Outlook newsgroup. Here's one:

microsoft.public.outlook.general

Good luck,

Hi,

You need to take this to one of the office groups for proper assistance with
this program.

My mother was having something similar happen in Outlook 2xxx. She
would have emails disappear after a week. I asked several questions
about this in the newsgroups and got answers that didn't seem to
help. Then someone who knew what was going on explained it! Outlook
was doing this on purpose! It was assuming that you didn't want
to see any mail older than a week and was burying it. He pointed
me at a checkbox telling it to never hide old emails. And my mother
discovered a thousand email it had hidden. There was not a clue
that this was actually still there, just being hidden. I can't even
remember where the check box was and I don't remember whether contacts
were exempt from this "help" or not. This was completely different
from archiving and from one or two other different ways that Outlook
could discard your information, and manually or automatically, and
with or without saving copies, etc, etc, etc. you get the idea.

You can also try posting in
microsoft.public.outlook
microsoft.public.outlook.general
microsoft.public.outlook.contacts
and see if one of those might have someone who has the needed clue.
Then, is there a simple way to restore them without having to type them all
back in?

Thank you, maybe we can all do this
