I.E. Some Sites Will Not Close

H

HAMBONE

I.E. will not let me close some web pages. I never have
this problem using Netscape. Sometimes I can close the
page and sometimes I cannot close it. I can minimize it,
but that's it. The ONLY thing that seems to work is
using Program Manager and when I do that it not only
closes that page, it aborts I.E. I did a re-install of
I.E. and that seem to work for a day or two, now I'm
right back to having the problem. Any advice???????
P.S. I have Norton Security and AntiVirus. There is no
detection of any viruses.

Thanks

Believe it or not, there is a javascript code in IE that
locks the browser so that you can't close the browser on
that page. Unfortunately, sometimes it locks for the
entire session. I know that Windows Update used to use
this code to prevent the user from closing the brower
during a critical install without going through the proper
cancel procedure, therefore, i'm guessing, preventing
system file corruption. It seems they took it off tho...
I don't know of any fix for this though--- Maybe suggest
they revise the code as a Microsoft Wish?
