I.E. counts down and shuts off

Millie Singer

After being on e-mail for a few minutes, the following
error message appears and computer counts down 60 seconds
and shuts itself off and restarts itself: Windows must now
restart because remote procedure call service ( RPC)
terminated unexpectedly. This occurs each time internet
and e-mail is turned on. Please advise. Thank you

Hi Millie,
I believe you have been hit by the "blastr" worm as I
was. I had to go to MSN site for a patch and then to my
security software package(Symantecs) to clear it up. If
you use Symantecs cure, when you go to download, check
only a couple of the updates at a time or you will be
disconnected before you can complete them. (It took me
about 5 tries to download them.) Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
de
