Just recently when I open some web pages (it appears the
ones with pop-up ads) there is a "bwap" sound...sometimes,
depending on the number of ads, it goes "bwap" "bwap".
Try as I can I can not seems to find how to eliminate this
weird sound (other than turning my sound off entirely,
which I don't wish to do)...can anyone give me any hints
as to how to get rid of it. Thanks

Check the Sounds applet in Control Panel as to what sound files you have
associated with the IE events.

Check if your popup blocker is making the noise. Many do but often
provide a configuration setting to select a different sound file and/or
disable the sound alert altogether.

I had a client having the same problem. Sites would not come up. They were running the webpage blocker called purity and it downloaded all sorts of things. I ran AdAware on his system and it solved the problem.
