The AutoDial Procedure Stops If You Quit Internet Explorer
When Internet Explorer performs an AutoDial procedure, the Internet Explorer
window and the Dial-Up Connection dialog box are displayed. If you configure
the AutoDial feature to automatically connect, the AutoDial procedure
starts. When this occurs, you can quit Internet Explorer. If you do this,
the Dial-Up Connection dialog box closes. Because the connection is not
established, the modem dials, negotiates line speed, and then stays
connected until an Internet service provider (ISP) timeout occurs and quits
the connection. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=309178 (i. e. 6. NT4/XP/W2000 11/14/2003)
What do you mean by "restart"? It should not be necessary to reboot.
Please disclose your OS when you ask for help!
In NTx you may be able to use ipconfig options to get it going again.
