I recently had to reload WIndows XP due to the good old blue screen. I got
everything pretty well set up with one minor but annoying problem. In I.E.
6.0 I would like to change the font style in the address bar as well as in
the side bar that opens when I select the favorites button. I can change the
font style for the words at the top of I.E. such as File, Edit, View,
Favorites, etc. but when I click on Favorites the menu that opens to the left
is using a very unpleasant and light font. I would like to change this and
the address window which uses the same font as well. I'm beginning to think
that I have to go to Regedit. Any suggestions? Thanks folks!

Right click Desktop | Properties | Appearance tab |
Advanced button | Under Item, select Message Box |

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it still doesn't entirely solve
the problem. Interestingly, the only thing that will change using your
suggestion is the colors. I can change the address bar and favorites to red,
or blue or yellow but it does not accept the bold or change the font style.
I appreciate you help. Any other suggestions?

I can change *all* the items I mentioned for Message Box, which also affects
the Favorites pane in Internet Explorer.

Oops. I'm using Windows Classic. You are probably using XP Style.

Try this...
[[NOTE: You can change the look of individual items if you select Windows
Classic style in the Windows and buttons list on the Appearance tab of
Display Properties. (Right-click an empty area of your desktop, then click
Properties, and then click the Appearance tab). If you select a visual style
other than Windows Classic, that style determines the appearance of your
menus, fonts, icons, and other Window elements. ]]
