I have Windows Me/Office 2000/I.E. 6.00.2800.1106
Yesterday, I 'upgraded' my Windows Media to Version 9
(I know, I know - I'm an idiot...). Windows Me has always been
notorious for being an unstable O.S., but I've managed.
However, I never had very many problems with I.E. 6.0.
Every once in a blue moon, it would crash. Ever since I
'upgraded' to W.M.9, my I.E. crashes every few minutes at
(seemingly) random times. Doesn't matter what site I'm on
or what I'm doing (or not). It just pops up with that fun dialogue
box that everyone loves: "We're sorry, but I.E. has experienced
problems and will now close. Do you want to send a report?
Blah, blah, blah"
I checked the details of the Error Report and it came up with:
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 4.90.0.3000 Offset: 0000a4e9
(I won't include the entire report -- it's hundreds of pages of a hex dump).
I close, I.E. - it reboots and a minute later, you get the Windows popup
box that says that you've encountered a problem in <unknown> etc., etc.
Click on that to get rid of that box and then a minute later I get another
I.E. box that says:
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 4.90.0.3000 Offset: 0000a4e9
...and I restart I.E. and then finally, the last Windows popup that says:
you've encountered a problem in <kernel32.dll> etc., etc.
This is pretty much continuous. I've checked for viruses, worms, Trojan
horses,
Spyware, Adware.
Is there something inherently wrong with Windows Media 9?
Is there anything I can do to 'undo' what is going on?
Thanks in advance for any advice - I appreciate it,
Mike_______________
