Hi Friends,

In an attempt to clean out viruses from my harddrive, I
deleted the file "lsass.exe", which I ultimately found out
is the file required to log in to Windows. Now, when I
start the computer, it will show the backdrop color of the
desktop, but will not load anything and will stop
responding. Does anyone know what I can do to log back on
to the computer?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Boot your machine with your Win2000 CD, select "Repair"
when prompted, then select "Command Console".

You can now expand d:\i386\LSASS.EX_ to c:\winnt\system32
(assuming that d: is your CD drive), using the "expand"
command.
