Hello, I am not sure if this is the right place to past this question. If it
is not then I apologize up front. I have several issues with my desktop.
Right now, I am battle with it over the issue of Paint and Program
Compatibility Wizard, which seem to have disappeared. My OS is Windows XP.
The icons for both of those programs have been replaced with a funny looking
icon, but the titles of both programs remain. I could really use some help
with getting them back. I have tried re-downloading Service Pack 2, but that
does not fix the issue. Thanks for any help.

If the shortcuts to the programs "disappeared" then how can you see a
"funny looking icon" for them?

So what is it that you want back? Shortcuts to the programs? Or to
revert to whatever you think is their standard icon in their
shortcuts?

Hello,

It is not the shortcut that is missing. The icon looks different in Start >
All Programs > Accessories. I am not too sure how to explain what they look
like. I just know that neither program works, and I would like to know how
to get them back. Any suggestions?

There is a difference between the icon being missing and the program not
working.

Fixing the first is easy: right click on the icon, click Properties,
then click Change Icon, and select the icon you want.

Fixing the second may be more troublesome, depending on whether it is
the short-cut that is messed up (easy to fix) or the program itself.

Right-click on the icon, choose Properties. What is the name of the
program listed, for paint to start with?
