I can't view/forward pictures/photos in my email in Windows XP/O.

When I receive emails with pictures, I often receive a large rectangular
frame with a small square frame with a red "X" inside of it. I am also unable
to view ".eml", ".email" or ".ppt" attachments even though I have PowerPoint
7 installed on my p.c. When I attempt to view PowerPoint "attachments?" I get
a message that says "No preview available". I am unable to forward the
majority of photos/pictures I receive. This happened when I was using Comcast
email as well as Outlook Express. Any answers greatly appreciated!
