I've been unable to turn my "out-of-office" message off. When I click on the
out-of-office assistant, I get an error window that states "The command is
not available.

If he could turn it on he wouldnt be asking the question. Im having the same
issue, as I turned it on and the feature does not work anymore to be able to
turn it off

Perhaps some further details would be helpful, such as version of Outlook and
version of Exchange.

Can the Out of Office be turned off and on in OWA?

I was having the same problem with Outlook 2003 (11.8217.8202) SP3. I could
turn the Out of Office Assistant off and on in OWA, but not otherwise. I
checked the list of disabled items under Help - About Microsoft Office
Outlook - Disabled Items, and found a dll file that was disabled. Once it was
re-enabled everything was working again. Unfortunately I didn't note the name
of the dll file before I re-enabled it.
I hope this is helpful.

Cheers

try this... worked with me...
Problem:

The following error appears when you are trying to either turn Out of Office
(OoO) on/off:

"The command is not available"
within Outlook 2003.

Solution:

1). Find the following registry key:
HKCU\software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook
2). Right-click the Resiliency subkey
3). Rename to Resiliency.old
4). Quit regedit
5). Start Outlook again

Hi i Was also facing the same problem before.
The same Error message displayed.

But it was resolved soon by:

Help-> About Outlook -> Disabled items.
There just select everything that is displayed it and Enable it.

Then try to Off the Out of Office Assistant.

It will Surely resolve.

Thanks
