Hi guys, Im trying to take off stickykeys but i cannot. i click shift 5 times
and when the window opens and i click settings for it to deactivate nothing
happens. I tried going through the accessability options but there isnt
anything there to do with the keyboard. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks

Under keyboard tab ( after pressing shift key five times), you unchecked "Use
stickykeys"?

and all other options

Yes there is, you didn't look far enough.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks

Copy the text below and paste into Notepad, save it as nosticky.reg,
double click on it to merge into the registry.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Accessibility\StickyKeys]
"Flags"="506"

Hi Adam

? "Keyboard" is the first tab in my Accessibility Options, and Sticky
Keys is the first entry on it. However. . .

Pressing the Shift key 5 times brings up a window as you say, asking you
to click Settings if you wish to deactivate Sticky Keys. Click that. You
then get the Keyboard tab I mentioned above. Click the Settings button
on the right; a dialog called Settings for Sticky Keys will come up.
Uncheck the "use shortcut" box and click OK twice.

Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if you still need this, but I think I may have an answer.

Last week on a commute home, I laid a book (don't ask why) on the left side
of my Inspiron 6000 laptop's keyboard for 10-20 seconds to look out the
train's window. The next day when I fired it up to use it, every key I
pressed beeped and my system settings (fan on, lighting display) were off. I
tried Dell support; control panel accessibility options; I attempted to build
a diagnostic disk and run it; and even a tip a friend suggested with no
success.

As a last resort before taking it into a repair shop, I attempted a System
Restore (maybe I triggered something). During the restart, I noticed that a
brief statement flashed on screen BEFORE the Windows start up screen. I saw
it before during the day but couldn't make out what it meant.

To make a painfully long story short, I saw that the phrase that briefly
flashed onscreen said PRESS FTN + X TO RESTORE COMPUTER TO NORMAL MODE

I would love to see the documented explanation of what Function + X is, but
when it did it, my machine worked. I think I'll call it the "Smokely
Technique"...

Hope this works...
