I can't see my network on my laptop

I’m trying to connect a laptop to a network I can see the laptop on the
network from the desktop but I can’t access anything on the laptop I have
file and print sharing on and I made the drive and folders on the laptop
share. And on the laptop I can connect to the network and use the internet
but I can’t see the desktop. I am using a westel wireless gateway modem to a
linksys wireless router and I have a linksys range extender. What do you
think?
