I can't see anything

when i log into my windows xp, i can't see anything, i
couldn't even see the log in screen, i just type in my
password blind. i know it is loading b/c i hear the log
in noise and see the hardrive grinding. I can see the
boot up of my computer on my screen. The screen just goes
blank right before it reaches the log in screen. Any
tips, please help.
