I CAN'T REFRESH THE CD-ROM ICON OF "MY PC" !!!

When I change or eject a CD, the icon of "My PC" is not changed (or
refreshed)...
What's the problem?

I have the exact same problem. I have a DVD and a CDRW
and they both wont refresh, the OS does not recognize when
I change the disks, or wont recognize that there is a CD
in the drive. I have to reboot to get the system to
recognize the disk.
Someone indicated that both drives are on the same IDE
cable and it might help to swap one on the other cable.

Suffered this after fitting a dvd-rw. Fixed the problem by
downloading and installing a firmware update from the manufacturers
web site then performing a clean install of xp (not sure if a
repair install would have worked).
