Unknown errors in Windows Mail are often due to interference from an
antivirus
program, antispyware program, or antispam program. What if any of these
programs do you have, and have you ever had a Norton or McAfee antivirus
program installed on that computer?

See if this leads you to any useful instructions:

The 0x80004005 error can be caused by a corrupted mailbox on the server.
Go to http://mail.yahoo.com and log in with your AT&T credentials.
Then clean out all the folders in your webmail. If you want to save
any messages, create a new folder and move those messages to the
new folder. Empty the spam and thrash folders also. Close webmail,
then try Windows Mail again.
