I can't receive email

I updated from Office XP to Office 2003. Outlook worked fine before the
update. Now when I send and receive, emails are sent and then I am asked for
my password I get an error "receiving error (0x800CCC92). Your e-mail server
rejected your login."
I have turned off the firewall to test it, and Nortons Antivirus, I have
even tried to uninstall Outlook, but when I reinstall it, all of the emails
etc return. Is my computer retaining all of the settings when it is
uninstalled?
I am using Outlook Express as it works, but I want to use Outlook as it
syncronises with my Pocket PC. Please help...anyone?

Dear,
Have you checked from here?, how many email accounts are configured?
Tools, email accounts, view or change existing email accounts, (click on)
your account, change, test account setting -

I have only one email account configured. I even deleted it and imported the
settings from Outlook Express (which works). And every time I go through
Tools/email accounts/view or change.., the password box is blank. I fill it
in, test the account (which is successful), and it sends the test message. I
just can't receive it with Microsoft Outlook. When I open up Outlook Express,
it receives every test message. Microsoft Outlook just refuses to remember
and use the password.

I have just discovered that other administrators on this computer do not have
any problems sending or receiving email through Microsoft Outlook. I still
cannot receive emails as the software doesn't accept or save my password. I
have even created a new administrator account for myself and it works fine.
Any ideas? Apart from copying all of my files to a new account?? Thanks.

I have just been through the same painful process...............
Anyone have any idea why this happens?

I have had that too in Outlook 2000. But on creating a local network
connection at home. May be Outlook cannot cope with changes to the system!!!
Checked all the new settings were correct. Cannot open mail in Outlook but
can send mail. Both accounts on this computer were now coming into Outlook
Express, unsorted as to name. Someone on the site suggested disabling the
Express account. Did that (though I find one needs it sometimes to send
attachments to those who can't open Outlook attachments) and now I am having
to get my messages via my server. Most annoying. Any solution. Outlook is
far superior to Express.
