I can't play a CD or burn one, but I can play a DVD...

I can't play, rip or burn a music cd with any program... But it plays dvds
perfectly.. What's wrong? Please help..

I have a Windows XP Pentium 4

You need to know that DVD drives, including burners, usually use two different
laser systems. One is for handling CDs and the second is for DVDs. It seems
that the CD laser for yours in no loner functioning. You probably should
replace the drive.
