I can't get my Java to work on IE

I've downloaded the newest version from Sun, I've enabled Java everywhere but
it still doesn't work. I'm ussing window XP.

Please help.

What "doesn't work" about it?
What error are you receiving?
What does it say in your event logs?
How are you testing its functionality?

When was the last time you checked for viruses with an updated AV software?
When was the last time you scanned for Spyware/Adware?

The applets will not work. All I get when I encounter a program that runs
Java is a small red box in the field. My subrcition to Norton just ran out
and I scanned for Spyware a few does ago
