I cant get deep into my PC

All the My programs (my computer, my briefcase, my pictures..) will not work.
I also cant get the search program to launch. I scanned my computer for
viruses and found none. I cant even get into my control panle. I can get into
my internet programs, my games and my music though... whats goin on? Any
ideas?

It depends on what you have available for repair of the system, and what is installed. OEM? SP2 later, or original? etc.

If you run an XP "Upgrade"setup, from the original, or "Gold" version of the setup CD, and you have SP2 installed, it might go into
a setup loop, and you could lose your install. Uninstall SP2, BEFORE you Upgrade setup from CD (that lacks sp2 on it.)
