I can't find the wav files I want to delete

At some time in the past I think I downloaded a series of interesting random
sounds that play every couple of minutes. A door slams, a phone rings,
"Celebrate" plays, etc. I'm tired of the sounds and they're really a problem
when I have the volume turned up to watch a DVD and suddenly there's a loud
cat screech! I've done searches for *.wav files and moved group after group
into an "unused" folder, I went through Control Panel and tinkered with
disabling sounds. Nothing has helped. They must be part of startup because
they're always there. Can anybody help?

Hello,

This could be caused by a program you have running in the back round. Like
file sharing programs, anything that uses a "Advertisement Banner" check to
see if that is causing it. If not its most likely some form of
adware/spyware/virus.

Check to see if it's a theme.
Right click the desktop/properties/
set the theme to default.

Do the sounds go away now?

Do you have a messaging program enabled and running? If yes, check that
program's menus for options to disallow customized sounds.

Great idea, Sharon! :o) Kade uses one here that makes those sounds (the
door one anyway). I am not in there often enough to know the rest of them.

Hi, Lady Kelly. It figures the kids would find those "fun" things to use ;)

Take care

I hear that and thank you, Ms. Sharon. <w> Have loads to share with you on
your last reply (DTS). Have been trying to keep busy.
