I can't export distribution lists in Outlook 2003

I am trying to export distribution lists in Outlook 2003 to load onto
another comupter that is on another domain. I am doing this by using
the import/export wizard on the original PC, exporting the contact list
with the distribution lists into a PST, then importing the PST into the
destination PC.

The problem that I am having is that when I import the .pst into the
destination PC on the other domain, just the name of the list is there.
The members of the list are not there.

Can anyone help...i've been looking for a solution for days!

Thanks to anyone that can help!!

As we have documented here countless times, exporting and importing are
never the correct way to transfer Outlook Data. A lot of data is lost, DL's
invariably among them.
Copy the data you want to transfer to a PST file. Do not export it.

I've tried to use the pst method. What i've done is export just the
contacts to a .pst file. Should I just copy my .PST file, and import
the contacts?

Thanks for the info.

I've tried the .PST file method without success. What i've done is
exported the contact list (with the distribution list in it) to a .PST
file. Without success. Should I copy my .PST file (where the lists
are coming from) and import to the other person's account?

Thanks,
Ellisha

How do I do this?

File>New>Outlook Data File to create the new PST. File>New>Folder to create
a new Contacts folder in that PST. Right-click drag-and-drop to copy the DL
to the new Contact folder.

This didn't work. The distribution lists were not populated with the
SMTP addresses. The Exchange addresses went in instead. Do you a way
to 'export' (i don't mean using the import/export utility) distribution
lists (with the members included) and plain contacts that have the smtp
addresses?

Thanks

This didn't work.

I'll give you a little more background. I'm trying to 'export' (not
using the export/import utility) the distribution lists (including the
members) and single contacts in a company address book. When I tried
the above suggested method, all I got was the exchange addresses, and
not the SMTP address. Do you know of anyway to accomplish what I am
trying to do?

Thanks.

Since the DL was created from contacts in your GAL, they may not contain the
SMTP address no matter how you try to migrate them.

Once again: DL's will not survive exporting.
Where do these DL's reside?

Sorry about all the reposts!! Anyways, these DL's reside on an
exchange server. Here is the scenario:

Computer A is on domain 1.
Network migration occurs.
Computer A is now on domain 2.

I want to take the GAL from domain 1, and put it into their outlook on
domain 2. The two domains are totally seperate from each other...

Thanks,
Ellisha

You need to ask this in an Exchange group then. This is not an Outlook
issue.
