I am running IE8 and Windows Vista Home Premium along with Outlook 2007. When
I try to connect to links sent to me in email, i get a message as follows:
"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Please contact your system administrator."

I have tried the corrections suggested by individulas using other operating
systems and Outlook releases to no avail. Has anyone else found an answer to
this problem?

Thanks for your help.

Since you didn't mention what were those "corrections suggested", it was
meaningless to even mention them in a vague reference. Respondents will
still end up duplicating whatever you already tried but failed to
mention here. So the following maybe something you already tried.

Did you Reset IE (advanced options)?
Did you make sure a web browser was selected as the default one?

The website you provided, www.slipstick.com/problems/link_restrict.htm, gave
me the answer. I opened the Default Programs applet from the Control Panel
and accessed the "Set program access and computer defaults" option, then
expanded the "custom" option. In "choose a default web browser," I selected
"internet Explorer" and clicked OK. I came back in and selected Microsoft
Office Outlook as my default email system and clicked OK. Making thses
selections in Internet Explorer did not work.

Thank you for your assistance. I apologize for omitting the steps I took in
my initial message.
