I cannot send emails

after installing a TRENDnet wireless router(TEW-432BRP), I am unable to send
any emails in windows mail(Vista Home Basic). I have double check my mail
settings and all seems to be OK. Any suggestions?

I figured out my problem. I surfed through some of the other questions and
found what I was looking for. I went to my servers page and made the changes
they suggested.

I too can receive emails but not send from windows mail, but I can send from
my earthlink web mail. Earthlink says that windows mail needs to be fixed.
What do I do. I get the following error message when I try to send
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.earthlink.net', Server:
'smtpauth.earthlink.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0F
What do I need to do? Earthlink was going to have me do some run commands,
but not I can't even find that in Vista.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

That doesn't make sense to me since incoming mail is scanned, but I turned
off Norton 360, which came with the computer along with Vista, but I still
get the same error message when I try to send emails via windows mail. I set
the outgoing port correctly, 587, and server name. It all works fine in web
mail but not in Windows Mail. Where do I exclude EML fiel scans?
