I did all that at first. But still no incoming email. I did get a few at

Go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
Uncheck the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."

Same but different problem Windows security returns:

Account: 'pop.suddenlink.net', Server: 'pop.suddenlink.net', Protocol:
POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid user name or password.', Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I can log into suddenlink mail online with same info, any ideas?

You can test your password by logging in to webmail:
http://home.suddenlink.net/
If that works, it proves you have the correct username and password.
A likely reason for the username/password failing is account corruption.
One thing you should try as a possible quick fix is to delete that corrupted
mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

If that doesn't fix it, more drastic measures will have to be taken.
Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

I don't think it's the Antivirus software, it is a "Windows Security" screen
that comes up and asks for the information(again and again and again........)
This started right after an automatic windows update reboot. Suddenlink
supplies the Mcafee virus software and it's been working very well for a year
or better now. This is not my first problem with windows security, but it is
the first problem with the mail application

Does not matter who supplies McAfee, it might have worked well for however
long, but eventually the mail scan in McAfee appears to corrupt WM accounts
eventually.

Did you log in to http://home.suddenlink.net/ to test your credentials?

If they work on that site OK? Then go to the Tools menu>accounts>select your
account>properties>server tab.
Enter your credentials there, remember that they are cASe SensiTivE.
Now test your account, does it work?
If not, and the security message shows again, click CANCEL on that window,
that will generate an error message, copy and paste that back to here in
your reply.

You are certainly under no obligation to take my advice, but I assure
you my advice is based on many years of resolving similar issues.
McAfee is without a doubt among the top two trouble makers for
Windows Mail.

If your password also fails at the Suddenlinks webmail login, then
you have the wrong password. You will have to contact
Suddenlinks to get them to reset the password.
