I cannot install any new devices (or old ones!!) Help!! :)

When I try to install my video device or my sound device, it appears to work,
but then I receive an error message which states ""Cannot Install this
Hardware...There was a problem installing the hardware: Intel(R) 82865G
Graphics Controller...An error occurred during the installation of this
device...The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit
or an application request."

This error message also appears when WindowsXP (Home Edition) also tries to
install it automatically. A restore point is created and then the
installation begins, but the error message terminates the installation.

Has anyone ever found a solution for this??

Thanks for your help,

The 82865G refers to on-board display adapter,if youre trying to install a
independent video card then.Uninstall onboard video thru device mgr, uninstall
then exit device mgr,power off computer,dont restart.Install card,on start
up,
open BIOS select card(advanced chipset menu),in xp reopen device
mgr,uninstall
on board,dont restart,exit device mgr,install drivers/software then restart
comp-
uter.If youre having problems with on board equitment,go to
intel.com,downloads,
chipset software, install chipset installation utility, plus locate graphic
drivers for
865G chipset. The installation utility is the key.....

Hi,

Unfortunately, I have tried all of the obvious. This error just keeps
coming up.
I've tried updating the board's bios (none available). I've taken care of
all the driver stuff. None of that helps. I appears, from me searching
throughout the web, that there is no solution to this error. No one has a
solution except for download, install, reinstall, updated, etc...This error
goes beyond that. It sounds like it is a windows flaw. Others have this
same error and they have not got a solution either.
I appreciate the suggestions though.
Thanks,
Joe
