I cannot delete user accounts from my operating system.

I am unable to delete user accounts from my Windows XP
Home Edition. I can get all the way to the delete account
option and when I click on "delete account" nothing
happens. And the program does not respond. This has
happened before and I was told that my user accounts are
corrupt and I had to re-install my O.S. I need help!

1) You have to be logged on with an account in the Administrator group to
delete user accounts. If using Fast User Switching, be sure that account is
logged off before deleting it.

2) There must be at least one account in the Administrator group.

3) It's not a good idea to delete the system create account named
"Administrator." (Keep this original account in reserve. Use a different
account in the Administrator group for everyday admin tasks.)

I have an administrator account. I am trying to delete my
little brother's old account. He does not use this account
anymore and it is just taking up space. I was logged into
my account and I was trying to delete his account from my
account. He was also logged off, obviously, because he
does not use this account anymore.

Stacy, check in Event Viewer for any error information regarding this
issue. The items there are date and time stamped which will make it a
little easier to correlate them with the date and time of the failed
attempts to remove his account. Let us know what you find out from this
Administrative Tool.
