I cannot delete mail from my Outbox

It is showing as sent and is preventing me from sending any emails out ...

This is how I do it..

Click on FILE > Work Offline and 'check' it

Go to outbox and delete offending mail (you may want to copy the content if
you wish to resend..

Now click on FILE > Work Offline and 'uncheck' it..

thank you for your response ... unfortunately this is not working and still
says 'an unknown error has occured. this message is showing as sent .. could
this be the problem?

See if you can drag/drop the stuck message to the desktop, then delete it
there.
If that does not work for you.......

this looks exactly like the messages i am receiving. will give this one a go
as the other one wouldn't work. thank you for your help.

thank you for your help ... i downloaded the suggested update and was able to
delete the offending email ... happy days!
