i cannot defrag my computer

i have read your hints and have reached event viewer which is completly full of yellow triangles saying warning and red circles with error what do i do now. also having trouble with starting windows i can log on but it takes 5 mins for icons to appear.
please dont be too technical if poss. thanx
 
R.click on an event or warning,properties,then click on the url,this get
you help/support in xp,usually with answers to the event.Also,once even
viewer is closed,install xp cd,exit the info page,restart computer,boot to xp cd
select recovery at info page,press enter key for password to recovery,then type
CHKDSK C: /R When its thru,type:EXIT Remove cd,let xp start-up.To defrag,ru
disk clean-up,then go to run,type:cmd In cmd type:Defrag C: When its thru type
EXIT
