I can view my e-mail

Andy

I have a problem. I can't open an e-mail in Outlook 2003. I can see that I
have a message. I can even open an attachment. I just can't read the message
unless I first click on "reply" or "forward". When the next screen pops up in
these scenarios, I can read the original message below my response. Has
anyone seen this before? Please Help!

This would indicate a corrupted message. Most often this is caused by a
virus scanner writing a footer that it has been scanned. AVG is infamous
because of it. If you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook,
disable it and try again. Messages that have been mangled now are probably
beyond repair.

Roady [MVP],

Thanks for the advise. I haven't changed anything. I'm still running the
same anti-virus that I have run for a year. Could it be something else? I'll
try and see if it works. Is there a plan B? Thanks

We'll start thinking about plan B when you have confirmed it is not your
virus scanner.
Virus scanners are updated and need to be updated too and can cause
conflicts because of it.

Virus scanner integration only gives you headaches and don't offer an
additional layer of security anyway.

OK, Roady [MVP], you were right. Turns out it was the McAfee site advisor
that was causing the problem. I must have downloaded an update that works a
little too well. Turning it off fixed the problem. Thanks for you help!!

I am having the same exact problem as Andy. I disabled McAfee Site Advisor as
well as the email scanner, but still cannot view emails.

Some background: I had been using Office 2002; Yesterday, I began
downloading SP3 for Windows and cancelled midway because it would take too
long. My problem opening emails seemed to happen after that, so I went back
and installed SP3 for Windows; still couldn't open emails so I installed
Office 2003 and all updates, including SP3 for Windows and Office 2003. Still
can't view emails.

Thanks for your help
